Migraine and I ... Part 3

Migraines sometimes develop at the most inconvenient times .... thus making it quite a nuisance and dampens moods of family outings. People who suffers from migraines or having a partner with one can attest to this. Back then, when my kids are still young, I was often frustrated when this situation occured. But I always tries to look on the bright sides and console myself that there'll be another times. But it can be quite difficult explaining to two happy, excited & eager 'looking-forward' toddlers why ...
~ we cannot go tho' they're fully dressed and ready
~ why we have to turn around and head home tho we're already halfway to the said destination
~ why we have to cut-short our beautiful outing
It happened a lot of times, that situation! When I explained to my then 3 & 4 years old sons that their father 'sakit kepala', they asked him to take 'ubat' or me to go and buy 'ubat' for their dad. Yes, their disappointment showed but over times ... they get used to it and I became an expert at consoling them and find distractions for them. Alhamdulillah, they also learned to accept it, to play quietly and not to disturb when their father had migraine.
I also worried and thinking, "Will our children inherit their father's migraine?"
Well, studies showed that if one parents had migraine, there's a 40% chances that their children will. If both had them, then the chances are 75% of inheriting it. See http://www.migrainementors.com. And yes, my children have migraines (only when they're much older tho'). My two youngest child ( 15 and 9 years old) hopefully will not have them coz so far they're not showing any symptons related to it.
However, tho' people in the same family shares genes for migraines, they may not necessarily share the 'triggers' i.e. foods, events, intolerence of medicines, hormonal changes, extreme weather/surrounding that sparks migraine in individual. Whilst hubby cannot indulge in cheese and citrus fruits, my children are ok with them. So, I tell my children to keep a list of things that triggers their migraines and try to avoid them. The one common factor that they all share is ... empty stomach will triggers migraine!! Thus I always remind them to take something every 4 hours ~ crackers, banana, healthy snack, milk shake/milo, bun ... anything filling.
Remember, its always best to avoid what triggers migraines!!!
Worst-case scenario:
If A has migraine, then after prolong use of computer, with a bar of choc and a fuzzy drink in between, A was tired and famished. A decided to have a cup of coffee plus a double-cheese burger. I'm telling you, A is playing a Migraine-Roulette with 5 bullets instead of 1 ...

Oh my head ...
p.s. Mama thinks blogging and 'Angry Birds' are the culprits for Mama's headaches nowadays!! (>_<)
