Migraine and I ... 1st Encounter

Hubby was running high fever and continuously vomiting until he can vomit no more but still trying to force himself to vomit. Tried to prevent him from inserting his fingers into his mouth to force himself to vomit, but met with fierce rebuttance. Next he was babbling incoherently, like having an amnesia. When I asked for further explanation, he'll answer but without much sense to me. I was already on the verge of panicking ... Then he sort of passed-out & like sleeping soundly. I fear the worst and quickly check for his heartbeats. Alhamdulillah ... I can hear it loud & clear. I let him rest and clean up the mess he had made (almost all over the house ...!!). The next day, his fever had gone completely, but he was still weak & we decided not to go to work. When I asked him, what was it about scolding me for not going outside (in the middle of the night) to bring in the durians, when there is none ...?. He looked at me, smiled sheepishly (handsome tho! hehe) and said he remembered nothing about it !!!

We're newly-wed (barely a month) and renting an end lot of newly completed 8 units single storey terrace-house in Gombak. Our nearest neighbour was a Makcik living at the other end lot of the terrace-housing. The rest still empty. The road leading to the house was a dirt-road, with vast covering of `lalang' shrubs around us. A huge lone, old and sturdy durian tree can be seen 200 metres behind our house. Stray dogs roamed freely. No other housing in sights excepts along the main road which was about 600 metres from our house! (I was trying to picture how isolated we're at that time).

Two weeks later, hubby had another `fever'. This time it was less severe than the 1st one but he vomited (again) and was very cool one minute, and very hot the next. So, I was like putting his socks & sweater on & off ... which happened a couple of time before he started vomiting. I did remember he said about seeing zig-zagging lines before his fever. I also remembered him forbidding me to massage his head when he complained of headache. I can only apply `minyak cap kapak' and that's it. And I had to clean the house ... again!!
Six months into our marriage, I was 4 months pregnants then. And his `fever' kept coming, more frequents than ever. I saw that he was in deep pain & at one time, banging his head against the wall ... not to mention walking to & fro around the house. Obediently, I followed him around whilst fearing the worst. I was  also prepared for his vomiting episodes ( a must when his `fever' attacked). I was pregnant and still having this morning-sickness things, so I quickly prepare a bucket (with a plastic bag for easy removal & replacement) for him to vomit. So, the `cleaning-up-the-mess' part was solved! Mind you, I was still in the dark as to why is he behaving like this each time he had a fever? As far as I know, people having fever will usually lie down in bed!! Hubby was against it when I suggested it to him. Instead he'll used the reclining-chair (recline to 2 o'clock angle) each time the `fever' attacked. The only furniture in the house at that time & his (brought along from his `bujang'  apt.) Then one day, he finally told me ... not before apologizing for hiding it all this while. He had a MIGRAINE!! He had it since he was 16 ... That day, though the word MIGRAINE did not mean a single thing to me, I vowed to find out what this monster MIGRAINE is .. because it is giving my hubby so much pain & its also giving me so much pain seeing my hubby suffers. THE WAR IS ON!!!
( to be continued ...)
