Alumni Semenza Grand Réunion 2019 ...

Still reeling from the wonderful and glamorous Alumni Semenza 2nd Grand Réunion last Saturday. Mama did hesitate about going ... feeling unsecure and 'rendah diri'. But hubby's encouragement and the thoughts of meeting former schoolmates and teachers again won over.

Meeting old friends from batch 1976, 1977 (Mama) and 1978 was surreal indeed. All the titles, pangkat, darjat were forgotten. We're transported back into those sweet 17 years. Admist speeches, performances from the 70's to the 20's, lucky draws and 5 course Chinese dinner ... nobody sat still. Moving and gathering from tables to tables, saying hellos, catching up latest news, the selfies, welfies, group photos ... occasional laughters and squeals from here and there. It was indeed a fantastic event cum gathering.
Our former teachers ... they're still the best and nicest teachers ever. Still the same after all these years. Thank you Pn. Siti Aishah, Pn. Tengku Azwan, Mrs. Chin, Cg Omar, Cg Mokhtar, Mr Gopal, Mr Wong, both Mr Teoh (Physic), Mr Teoh (Add Maths), Mr. Tan and Cg Wan Zakaria for coming over and gave us the chances to thanks you all again in person. Same goes to all our former beloved dedicated teachers. We became what we are today because of you.
Love it when one of the guest performer and also ex Zainabian, singer Nora (90's batch) lead the familiar and routine greetings that we wish our teachers at the end of every class. As we all stand up that nite,
"SELAMAT MALAM CIKGU!" and "TERIMA KASIH CIKGU!!" choruses unisonly permeated the big hall that houses around 100 teachers (former and present) and 900 plus alumnis from batch 1965 to 2018. Mama still getting goosebumps when recalling it. A successful and grand reunion indeed!!
That nite, Mama left the hall tho' reluctantly ... yet feeling elated, nostalgic, proud and glad.

p.s. Thank you dear hubby and Amar for being so supportive, understanding and being my chauffeur for that nite. Saranghea ... ❤️❤️❤️

Note:
Semenza stands for Sekolah Menengah Zainab. It is situated in Jln Telipot, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
(During Mama's time, we're known as Zainabian).

History:
ZS, SMZ  ... was first established in 1937 as Govt. English Girls School for the Royals and high status family only. Later in 1953, the school was open to all as Zainab Girls School. Named Zainab Sec. School in 1958 and later Sek. Men. Zainab in 1968. Presently known as SMK Zainab 1.
